The trip to New Hampshire

I returned home a week ago from my trip to New Hampshire and I am just now updating my blog about it. Many of you are probably wondering how my test went. The unofficial results said that I missed one of the practical stations that I needed to pass. That is a bummer for sure, however, I plan to take the Paramedic level test as soon as I can (June or July most likely).

I had a great visit with my sister, although I have sneaking suspicions that she was trying to kill me by having me try her vegetarian cuisine. Give me meat any day. I got nothing against plants, why would I want to kill and eat them? Barbaric, thats what I call it.

Some people think the reason I went was to take a test. Others think I went to see my sister. The real reason was the lighthouses. For years, I have been enamoured with them. Finally I got to see some up close.

We took one day out of my visit to go down to the coast and visit light houses. From Portsmouth, NH to South Portland, ME we drove and looked for lighthouses. These are pictures of lighthouses near Rye, NH, Cape Elizabeth, ME and South Portland, ME.

I'd love to go back to NH again. I might go out there for the Paramedic test. I haven't decided what I'll do yet. If I go again, I be sure to get more pictures. I'd love to go exploring on my own. If I go during the summer, I can get tours of the working lighthouses. Many of them will be open to the public then. During this trip, I wasn't able to climb any of the lighthouses or get up inside them. It was great to see them anyways.

Hometown Six

Here is Febraury's Hometown Six.

1. A picture of Village office-- The Lincoln County Courthouse and North Platte city offices.

2. A Main Street- Jeffers street looking south from the viaduct over the Union Pacific tracks. This is a crummy view of the city, but it is one of the main drags in town.

3. Public Transit. This NPPT bus is mainly used by disabled and mentally handicapped. North Platte isn't really big enough for a real bus service.

4a. A Shopping Center- The Platte River Mall recently got a facelift. Some people say that the new facade is a magnificent erection. The Phallicness on the outside is hardly compensation for what the mall lacks on the inside.

4b. Inside The Mall. When I worked at Radio Shack, we called it "The Hall." You can see from one end to the other. Its pretty lame. The real shopping center in town is the WalMart Supercenter.

5. Cultural Center or Theater... The Neville Center.
6. The Police/ Police Station- Also Fire Station #1.

Hometown Six

My friend Michelle runs a blog called Mikao's World at www.mikao.blogspot.com and she came up with a challenge to her readers to post pictures from their hometown.

As a procrastinator, I just got January's challenge completed. The challenge was for pictures with your town's name. Since I spend a lot of time on the road, I incorperated pictures from the road.

This is the view from Highway 83 at the turnoff to Maywood. I travel Highway 83 to McCook twice a week for Paramedic class.

The town of Wellfleet is the only town you drive through going between North Platte and McCook. The town is so small that they didn't even lower the speed limit going through.

The Radar tower. I call it the "Big Golf Ball."

The longest 22 miles ever are between Wellfleet and North Platte at 11:00 at night.

Entering North Platte you see the sign with Buffalo Bill Cody and a big train locomotive. North Platte is famous because Buffalo Bill lived here and the Union Pacific RailRoad's Bailey Yard here is the world's large reclassification yard in the entire world.

The North Platte Berean Church is my home church. www.npberean.org is my church's homepage if you want to visit. I play bass there at the 9:30 service every sunday morning and can be found there often on my days off practicing music or just tormenting the church staff who I used to work on a far more regular basis while I was the worship intern.

Alliteration Alert!! Attempting A Test Again

That was for all you English Grammar nutcases out there... you're welcome.

On the 19th of this month, two weeks from yesterday, I will be taking the National Registry test for EMT Intermediate 99 again. This is the test that I barely failed the first time. I am flying out to NH to take it. That may seem extreme, but I will also be visiting my sister there, and that will make it all worth it. My sister has lived out there for almost 8 years and I have never been out there.

I am taking the written test and two practical stations. I feel pretty good about the test and have been doing a lot of studying lately.
